Stainland Cross – Community Feedback

Thank you to everyone who took part in our recent survey about the Stainland Cross. The survey took place between 11th October and 10th November and was accompanied by a drop-in session for residents to find out more about the proposal. We received 32 responses from people who pass the cross daily or several times a week.
Here’s what you told us:
- The cross is regarded as a familiar landmark, admired for longevity and seen as an important part of local history.
- Most respondents were positive about creating an accessible space around the cross, with seating and a place to relax.
- There were requests for signage sharing the history of the cross.
- A high number of respondents supported planting pollinator-friendly perennials, and spring flowering bulbs to make the area more attractive and wildlife-friendly.
We’re delighted with the positive feedback and will keep you updated as plans develop to make this historic grade II listed landmark even more welcoming and accessible.
