Shaw Park Boardwalk Repaired and Reopened!
After many years of being closed off to the public the boardwalk over the wildlife pond in Shaw Park is open again. The work was commissioned and paid for by the Parish Council and has taken over 12 months to come to fruition.
The project involved commissioning a survey and enlisting contractors to carry out repairs to rotting timbers, remove trees and ivy growing through the structure and install non -slip grips to the surface. The new timbers will be stained by John our Environment Warden as soon as conditions are suitable.
The next phase will be to clear, work to remove vegetation from the pond will follow.
Elsewhere in the park parish councillors and the Environment Warden have been working with Friends of Shaw Park to clear brambles and saplings from next to the ornamental pond and cutting back ivy from trees.
If you are interested in joining a working party on Monday mornings, please contact the Parish Clerk or visit Friends of Shaw Park Face Book Page
The board walk was overgrown with vegetation and had rotting timbers.
