A Clearer Path Ahead: Shaw Park’s Entrance Path Gets a Much-Needed Makeover
A Clearer Path Ahead: Shaw Park’s Entrance Gets a Much-Needed Makeover
If you’ve strolled into Shaw Park recently, you may have noticed something rather wonderful underfoot. The entrance path—once a muddy, waterlogged stretch of chipped bark—is now a smooth, solid walkway that welcomes every visitor with ease and comfort.
The bark path was lovingly maintained by the Friends of Shaw Park volunteers, who regularly topped it up in hopes of keeping it usable. But despite their efforts, rain and footfall often turned it into a soggy obstacle course—especially for pushchairs, wheelchairs, and anyone trying to keep their shoes dry.
🌧️ Before:
The old bark path, though natural in appearance, struggled to cope with our Yorkshire weather. Puddles pooled, mud clung, and the entrance—used daily by residents—became a challenge rather than a pleasure.
🌞 After:
Thanks to a recent upgrade, the path now boasts a durable, weather-resistant surface that’s both practical and inviting. It’s a small change with a big impact—making Shaw Park more accessible, more enjoyable, and more welcoming to all.
Look at the before-and-after photos below to see the difference for yourself!
This improvement is part of our ongoing commitment to making Shaw Park a space that works for everyone—whether you’re popping in for a peaceful walk, meeting friends at the playground, or simply passing through on your daily route.
👏 A huge thank you to everyone involved.
