Drury Lane
Allotments
Stainland and District Parish Council (SDPC) own an allotment site at the end of Drury Lane (opposite the Duke of York pub) in Stainland. The allotments are available to rent by residents of the parish.
APPLYING FOR AN ALLOTMENT
Applicants must be resident in the parish and should apply in writing to the parish clerk by email parish.clerk@sdpc.uk or in writing to The Parish Clerk, Stainland and District Parish Council, South Parade, Stainland, Halifax. HX4 9HW. Applicants must provide proof of address e.g., council tax or utility bill.
WAITING LIST
If all allotments are occupied applicants can request to be put on a waiting list which will be maintained by the parish clerk. When a plot becomes available the clerk will offer the plot to the longest serving applicant on the waiting list. If the applicant turns down the plot (e.g., applicant offered a full-size plot but only wants a half size plot) it will be offered to the next applicant on the waiting list.
RENTAL FEES
Fees are paid annually in April and will vary dependant on the size of the plot i.e., full size or half size plot. There is an additional charge irrespective of plot size for the water supply to the site.
Rental fees for 2023/4 are £60 for a full-size plot (250.84 sq. metres/300 sq. yard) and £40 for a half size plot. The water service charge is £20 per plot.
DOCUMENTATION
All tenants will receive a tenancy agreement which must be signed and returned to the clerk. The tenancy agreement will specify the terms and conditions of the rental agreement including tenant obligations, notice period and termination, standard of plot maintenance.
SITE MANAGEMENT
Representatives of SDPC will conduct regular inspections of the site to ensure plots are effectively used, well maintained and in keeping with the environment.
